Hi {first_name},

I’d like to take a minute to welcome you to Westborough. This town is important to me; my wife grew up here, our business is located here, and we’ve chosen to raise our kids here. People know that Westborough has great schools and municipalities, but what I’ve come to truly love about this place is its sense of community.

I’m sure that you’ve noticed that the rotary can be tough during rush hour. On weekends, it is also often busy around 10am, while families head to sports and church. We do our best to avoid the rotary if at all possible, during the start and end of school (8am and 2:30pm) because it gets swamped with buses and parents driving their kids.

An interesting thing that I learned from my wife is how the town of Westborough earned it’s name. Marlboro was incorporated in 1633 by English settlers. At the time, Marlboro encompassed what is now Hudson, Westborough, Southborough, Northborough and Marlboro. Settlers loved the rich soil and found it a great place to farm. By 1717, the western half of the area had grown, and decided to separate into “Westborough” as it was west of Marlborough. It became the 100th town in Massachusetts. By 1766, Northborough separated from Westborough (it was “north” of Westborough) and Southborough separated from Marlborough in the 19th century (it was “south” of Marlboro.) While a bit confusing in words, this map shows it pretty well.
