Captives close an average of 12-20%
Independents close upwards of 66-75% but most average over 50%
 
Captive commissions average 8-10%
Independent commissions average 15% new business 12% renewal
 
As a frame of reference the difference between 8% and 12% is NOT 4%... it’s a 50% difference….
 
Captives have 1 carrier – some have a couple on backup that they can ONLY use if carrier 1 wont.
Independent : As many carriers as you need to be successful.
 
Captives: Compliance police protecting THEIR brand inhibiting your own growth
Independent: Grow YOUR brand how YOU see fit.
 
There are a million and one reasons to explore the independent side of things but those first few scream volumes to those considering it.
