Most agents that start looking at opening an independent agency are solely focused on getting as many carriers as possible. Don’t get me wrong, carrier access is important. That’s why CIA represents over 200+ personal and commercial lines carriers.
 
What a lot of agents fail to realize is carrier access and CORRECT carrier access will make a dramatic difference in an agent’s success in the early stages of their career.
 
We don’t throw darts at the carrier dartboard or take a wild guess on who the carriers need to be.
 
That’s why we use very expensive data, our current agent’s production reports in similar areas, and our carrier connections to really dial in the exact carrier lineup an agent needs that parallels the type of agency they are trying to build.
 
It wouldn’t make a lot of sense to give an agent access to a ton of non-standard carriers if their business plan reflects that they will be targeting the preferred market.
 
We use our proven carrier formula to determine the CORRECT carrier access so that our CIA agents start off with a 60% closing ratio on average. We will continue to add carriers as needed and work with our agents throughout their careers as changes are needed, as not only their markets change but the carrier options as well.
