{Name}, when I started in sales I spent every day cold calling. I would make anywhere from 40-50 calls a day, which mostly went something like:
 
Call...voicemail. Call...voicemail. Call...voicemail. (Repeat for 9 hours, bang head on desk, repeat.)
 
The problem with cold calling is the success rate. More specifically, the pickup rate.  Not to mention the call screeners, the people away from their desk, the irritated business owners whose days were being interrupted.
 
Worst of all, I wasn’t making any money.
