Roughly 21% of people have an 800+ score, but they didn’t get there overnight. The average person in that range has over 21 years of credit history. And most have at least 14 years. So, if you’re not there yet, don’t worry.
A tip for those with kids - If you add your kids name on your accounts as an authorized user, it will jumpstart their credit history and allow them to get a higher score sooner than most. Just please do the right thing and educate them on how to use their credit responsibly and maintain that score.
So, what do I do in the meantime?
Well, a 750 score will get you most of what you might get with an 800 score and it is easier to achieve, so strive for that. And if you’re already there, just keep doing all the things you’ve been reading about in our email series. Over time, with consistent efforts, you’ll see your score start to rise.
Our next emails will be more about these scores, which can cost us or save us money in many aspects of our lives.
Sincerely,
