Your insurance company may ask for additional documents. Make sure you read and respond to communications. If you do not comply with those requests, it may cause a rate increase and/or cause your policy to cancel. For some discounts, you’ll need to take action or submit documentation within the first 30 days of your policy. If you’re receiving a paperless discount, be sure to create your online account or download the app and log in in order to keep it. To keep your driving app discount, download and login to the phone app to activate it.

If your home insurance bills to escrow, the invoice will be sent to your mortgage company. Normally, they will pay the invoice in full. Any refund received from your prior home insurance policy should then be deposited to escrow. This will avoid “double charging” your escrow account. If your mortgage company does not pay for a mid-term policy change, you can simply wait until you receive the refund from your prior insurance company and use it to pay for your new policy.
