I wasn’t always an expert in insurance, understanding how to make rates favorable.
 
In fact, when I started my agency I didn’t have the first clue about how to get the best bang for your buck.  I’ve always been a believer in selling on value – not dollar.  However, forgetting discounts doesn’t provide anyone value – or dollar savings. 
 
I’m going to share a personal story with you about one of my early failures on MY POLICY.
 
When I first started I insured my home and auto with my current carrier.  Then I added my business.  Next was my umbrella policy followed by life insurance.  I was adding the policies needed to make sure everything that was important to me was protected.  Great!
 
Sometimes, you spend so much time focusing on your clients, that you forget to focus on you. 
 
One day, I looked at my policies and realized that I didn’t add guaranteed life insurance for my two kids and had forgotten to associate all of my policies so we weren’t getting any discounts on them.   I left 27% worth of discounts on the table. 
 
It's never fun to make mistakes, but I'm thankful for them.
 
There are two morals to that story. 
#1: Don’t forget to make time for yourself and your needs
#2: Make sure you do an insurance review yearly to make sure are getting the coverage that you need AND the discounts you deserve.
