Hi {first_name}

“My spouse doesn’t work so we don’t have to worry about replacing their income”

I will be doing a life insurance review and every time I hear this I cringe.  Sometimes, it will be the income generating spouse, but often, it’s the home-maker spouse -the stay-at-home mom or dad.

My thought?  That’s garbage.  Your partner brings so much to the table that you don’t even realize it.  If you were to put a number on it, the average value of a stay-at-home spouse is $114,000 per year.

How is that possible?

 Think of it like this.  If your “non-income generating” spouse died tomorrow, who would:
-manage the kids
-do the grocery shopping
-take the kids to sports events
-cook dinner
-help the kids with homework
-stay with the kids if you have to travel for work.

Yes, you can hire a nanny or housekeeper, but there is a cost involved in all of that.  That is where the $114,000/year income replacement comes into play.

Life insurance is such a weird thing to talk about, but it’s definitely one that you can’t afford to ignore.
