You’ve saved enough of your hard earned $$ and did some heavy soul-searching about

The first place you go (after you’ve found your awesome Realtor of course) is the
mainstream bank you do your personal banking with to find out how much home you can
afford, right?
 
WRONG.
 
Most people think that the best lender for them is a bank they already have say their
chequing or savings accounts with. They’re persuaded by ads on branch walls about how
they should have all their services with the same provider. Or more commonly, they’ve
simply never heard of what a Mortgage Broker is and what they can do for them. Fair
enough.

Those banks have only a LIMITED access to their OWN mortgage rates and
products. They’ll post posters of discounts on their rates, but YOU are responsible for
negotiating these rates.

mortgage rates. They shop around for the best mortgage tailored to your individual
circumstances, THEY NEGOTIATE FOR YOU, and they present you with the lowest rate on
the market.
 
Disclaimer: The Mortgage Broker shops for your mortgage amongst various financial
institutions, and it’s that financial institution who provides and services your loan. So you
may very well end up with the mainstream bank you personally bank with anyways. But you
can guarantee that you really are getting the best deal on your home loan.
 
Mortgage brokers also work on commission. They’ve got skin in the game, so they’ll do
whatever it takes to make you happy. And although they’re working for you, you don’t pay
them a cent. Their commissions are paid by the lender. That’s right.
